The Chosen Project
English II IDEA/Accelerated
You have multiple options for the project. Regardless of which one you select, the assignment must be placed as a separate page that is "linked" to your Web site.
Option A)
Create a time line on the web that sets
important events in the lives of Reuven and Danny against a backdrop of actual
historical events. Use an almanac, the encyclopedia, the thousands of
resources from the web, and other reference tools to add various types of
events and people (political, athletic, scientific, musical, legislative,
etc.). Be as creative and as detailed as possible. Cite the book
directly. Cite your sources in a resource hyperlink or slide. Use MLA format. Use Power Point or make a web site. Include at least 4 significant quotes which relate to the significant
events in history as they occur in the novel. Include at least 4 graphics,
pictures or artwork.
Option B)
Locate 1 or more maps of Israel on the web or through other electronic sources.
Research some of the sites of anti-Jewish persecution (e.g., Crusader massacres, 1096; Chmielnick massacres, 1648; massacres associated with the Black Death, 1348; numerous concentration camps during WWII). Find multiple maps which show where these sites were.
In your Nazi Holocaust portion of this project, find out how many Jews were killed, and from which countries. Create a map that displays those details.
You may want to use Power Point to insert and modify/label the maps.
Again, be as creative and as detailed as
possible. Cite your sources in a resource hyperlink or slide. Include at
least 4 significant quotes which
relate to the significant events (having to do w/Jewish persecution) in
history as they occur in the novel. Include at least 4 graphics, pictures or
artwork.
Option C)
Compare/contrast expository web site outlining differences and
similarities between the differing Hasidic Jewish (Danny) sects and the
Orthodox Jews (Reuven). Again, be as creative and as detailed as possible.
Cite your sources in a resource hyperlink or slide using MLA guidelines.
Include at least 4 quotes from the novel relating to Hasidic or Orthodox Jews,
ie 2 pertaining to each would be appropriate. Include at least 4 graphics,
pictures or artwork.
* Be careful to avoid accuracy, spelling, grammar, and punctuation errors.
