World War II Memorial Official Website

The World War II Memorial lies opposite the Lincoln Monument at the end of the reflecting pool.

One side of the memorial remembers the Pacific campaign, and one side remembers the European campaign.

Each state and U.S. territory sacraficed men and women in the war, and each pillar honors those citizens.

Adm. Nimitz headed the Pacific Fleet.

(The temperature was about 30 degrees when I visited the WW II Memorial on President's Day Weekend.)
More than 400,000 American servicemen died in the war.

This sculptor depicts President Roosevelt based on a photo.

These men represent the massive unemployed Americans during the Great Depression.

Remember the "Four Freedoms" speech from AP Composition; here they are:
freedom of speech, freedom of worship, freedom of want, freedom from fear.
